| Spotlight searches If you have upgraded to Leopard, then you can refine Spotlight searches. You can do this either thru the Spotlight window and adding search criteria as you need them. Or you can type in commands in the spotlight search bar. I have attached a PDF to show how to use it to its fullest. But here are a few highlights: - Use quotes: "Fangpyre rules" will show files that have that exact phrase. Without the quote marks, it will show any document that contains the words but not the phrase. "Apple Mac" produces: Apple Mac notice how it will doesn't return Mac Apple - And (also +) returns searches that contain both terms Mac + Apple produces: Mac Apple Apple Mac - Or returns results from either word, not necessarily both will be in the result. Mac OR Apple produces: Mac Apple Apple Mac Mac Apple - Not (also -) returns the first phrase without the second being in the result. Apple -Mac produces: Apple - modified:3/7/08-3/10/08. Finds all documents modified between March 7 and March 10. You can also type created:=6/1/08 to find all the files you created on June 1, 2008. Type modified:<=3/9/08 to find all documents you edited on or before March 9, 2008. - Limit by kind to find all photos, type kind:image. Here’s the complete list of kinds. Remember to precede each keyword type with kind and a colon. A program app, application, applications Someone in your address book contact, contacts A folder folder, folders A message in Mail email, emails, mail message, mail messages An iCal appointment event, events An iCal task to do, to dos, todo, todos A graphic image, images A movie movie, movies A music file music, audio A PDF file pdf, pdfs A Safari bookmark bookmark, bookmarks A font font, fonts A presentation (PowerPoint, etc.) presentation, presentations You can combine these codes with the text you’re seeking, too. For example, if you’re pretty sure you had a photo called “Naked Mole-Rat,” you could cut directly to it by typing mole kind:images or kind:images mole. (The order doesn’t matter.) |

| lol. I am laughing so hard after your remark. Thanks. But the real picture of a Naked Mole Rat is more gross (maybe even scary) than naughty. |
