Hello everybody! This is my first post here in EmiMac Forums, hope I could contribute much to it. Well, I thought I'd make my first post a thread in "Hints, tips, and tricks". I apologize if this has been done before. I usually use: - Command+Ctrl+D over a word, and a small box pops up and gives me the definition of the word beneath the cursor. - Command+Ctrl+Eject will restart your computer. Fast and swift reboot whenever I want to switch to windows (A quicksilver shortcut could do just the thing, but hey, this is far simpler And other numerous shortcuts I can't seem to remember at the moment. Of course, I use the copy and paste shortcuts and Command+Tab , but why should I state the obvious? Now it's time to share yours

Hi Claustrophobe, nice shortcut there Cmd+Ctrl+D is very nice indeed. How about disabling shortcut like the Cmd+Option+D that shows and hides the Dock, annoyingly for me the same shortcut is regularly used in Photoshop so I had to disable the System one. To activate, disable, or add system shortcuts just access System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse, then click on the Keyboard shortcut tab on top of the window.

I just digged around, and found this: Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts Or you can go to System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts. There you will find shortcuts that weren't mentioned in the link above.

For switchers, keep in mind that replacing the Control key with the Command key works for a lot of shortcuts. So instead of Control+S for saving, do Command+S. Command is next to space, also called Apple key by some. So Command+C for copy, Command+V for paste, Command+X for cut, Command+A for select all, Command+Q for quit, Command+Z for undo, Command+N for new, Command+P for print, Command+O for open, etc.
