Beautiful 'singing' indeed.

Magnus, I am curious about the screen shot that you have posted. Did you take it using 'Grab' and then convert it into .jpg or used some other application? Does grab support saving in jpg format?

I donno about Magnus, but i use OnyX myself to change the default capture format to JPEG ! and yes it is a free application ;-)

You can do it through preview as well.

just file, save as, then change the format

or even easier :
- Open Terminal
- type :
- defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg
- killall SystemUIServer (or logout and login)

here we go !

I used to convert them using ColorSyncUtility or the preview method.

Yes it's with Grab, then saved with Preview. I'm really usually a Snapz Pro user but I don't have it installed right now.

Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
