Lacie Mini external drive

I have a firewire Lacie disk as an external drive to my Mac Mini.

I have no idea how but for some reason it is just sloooooow ... takes 4 day to burn 3 GB of music ... I can see the stuff on the drive.

Disk Utility confirms this as I get the following when trying to repair itÖ

Verify and Repair disk “LaCie Disk”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Incorrect block count for file store.db
(It should be 1179 instead of 1187)
Invalid index key
Rebuilding Catalog B-tree.
The volume LaCie Disk could not be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
1 volume could not be repaired because of an error
Repair attempted on 1 volume
1 volume could not be repaired

Is there ANYthing I can do to get the old speed back without wiping the whole thing ?
