Power or memory problem?

On a PowerMac G4, I added an additional memory chip. Now I couldn't start the machine anymore. The Mac runs for a second or two but before I hear the BOING sound it goes off.

Tried all kind of tricks I know, checked cables, replaced power cable, pressed the button on the motherboard, and ofcourse removed the new memory chip but no luck, the machine starts for a second then goes off shortly. Any ideas of what could be the cause?

Have you tried checking on a different electric point altogether ? Try removing the new one and take the old RAM and put it in another slot. I wouldn't think your motherboard battery would cause a problem but try to remove it for a while and pop it back in again. Let us know whats the outcome.

Thanks for assistance gajanan
These tricks didn't make any difference, unfortunately. I am calling iStore to see if they can help remotely.

Zaid:

Try putting in the restore CD that came with your Mac and booting while holding "D" (not a retail OS install, needs to be restore CD)

This should start the Apple Hardware Test , see if that will help you troubleshoot.

Time while machine is running doesn't allow to push cd inside. G4 runs for a second or two!
