DVD Stuck

I was trying to install Windows Vista on my MacBook Pro using Parallels. I inserted the DVD and it got stuck inside. It doesnt even make a sound anymore. I mean, it's just stuck inside doing nothing (not spinning etc). Any suggestions on how to remove the disk stuck inside? I tried holding down the mouse button and restarting, hitting the eject button, but nothing works. Its as if my MBP thinks there is no disk inside.

Holding mouse button down during restart always worked for us. It is either a hardware failure or you didn't hold the mouse button long enough.

please try to check in the system profiler found in /Application/Utilities if the dvd device is detected.

the dvd drive is detected. but its acting like there is no DVD inside. the drive does not spin or anything, its just like there is no dvd inside. i think i have to open up the drive. are there any instructions on how to do that? i just upgraded my hard drive yesterday myself, so i know how to get into the case. my warranty has already expired cuz my laptops around 2 years old already.

Wow!
Never thought Vista could mess up a system that fast.
I mean, I thought you needed to install it before it does that.

I wonder if pushing the DVD in would have helped.

LOL, I guess so.
But I'm pretty sure its the Vista thing.
Xylene has set a new record for fastest Vista damage to a system.
