So i am assuming that even if my telephone like wire is connected to the LAN wall out it would still connect. Please tell me what line are you taking out from your wall point to your router (for internet). Is it a normal telephone 4 pin/6pin socket (RJ11/14) or is it a RJ45 LAN wire.
Ok, so the line that comes from the wall socket is the RJ-11 cable which is the conventional phone line cable. Although, this line fits into the RJ-45 socket, it will not function correctly. An RJ-11 cable only fits into an RJ-11 socket which should read as (Line) on the modem.

In short, the line you are taking from the wall socket to the modem is RJ-11. A simple setup should be like this:

1) An ADSL modem with a line in socket which accepts the RJ-11 cable so that you can connect to the internet.

If the modem is also a gateway/router, then you don't need to do anything else as wireless will be enable on it. All you need to do is log on to 192.168.1.1 and input the settings mentioned in the above post.

If the modem is not a combined gateway/router, you will need to purchase an additional router which is connected to the modem through the RJ-45 cable. Once again, after this, you will need to log on to 192.168.1.1 with the above settings.

I know all this is sounding a tad complicated, but trust me thats its fairly easy once you start doing it. Even a cheapo WAG54G from linksys should work as it supports RJ-11 line. So all you really need to do is connect it, input the above mentioned settings and you are good to go!

Let me know how it goes.

Regards.

Thanks for your replies drsandy, Just came home. The guys at Compume were understanding enough and didnt give any problems exchanging the hardware. Tho i had bought this router from Abu Dhabi Mall i2 BE store (Compume), the guys here at mall of the emirates compume didnt have any problems taking it in.

I exchanged it for a Belkin : Wireless G Plus MIMO Router, same price (299AED) rushed home opened up the box popped in the CD, and found no MAC compatible software as they mentioned on the box, But took the plunge .. connected the power, the main RJ45 to the router input and another RJ45 came from the router to my iMac.

And here i am, browsing in less than 5 minutes, no settings (except for the wifi, i had 4 people already connected in the first 5 minutes lol). Wrapped up the box, manual , cd and threw it in the storage. Now time to rent a nice movie and sit with a chilled beer !

Cheers !
Thanks fangpyre and drsandy for the support and help
