| Digging out this old thread.... I wonder if any of us has ordered and shipped the drobo from the US via Aramex Shop&Ship and what the approximate costs are. I am reluctant to spend 2600 (or more for the FW version) for the drobo here when I can order it for half of the price in the US. If anyone had the pleasure of reciving a drobo via shop&ship it would be highly appreciated... How are you all satisfied with the drobo? Still everyone happy? Am getting paranoid slowly as my data increases like crazy and I only have either one external drive where the data sits and no backup, or just one backup and getting the drobo seems to be the perfect solution for my worries. And it grows too :-) Thanks and all the best, Ralf |

| I shipped it through shop&ship... but can't remember the cost (bought it from Amazon). All I can say is go for it... its works GREAT with Time Machine (just don't pull out all hard drives at once). The peace of mind I get from knowing that my backup capacity is theoretically limit less is worth the extra price. Drobo replaced my old 1TB WD external drive. I placed 4 x 750GB hard drives in it. It automatically creates two 2TB partitions (USB limitation I heard). Note that my Time Machine backups go back to March (since I bought the Drobo)... thats 7 months of backup history. Now with the new FW version... it is even faster and quieter I hear. Highly Recommended |
