It is good I tell you...

Knowing how Time Machine is picky on drive used (I changed the drive name once and Time Machine went berserk).

Imagine unlimited (I think) drive expandibility

Smile Nice product

Hi Magnus, It's a nice product, you can order the Drobo share from UAE distributor Intuit Middle East LLC, Wacom, Corel, ZicPlay, 3Gen, NComputing, iOmega, or you can even use Airport Extreme for same price you get more functions.

Thanks for the tip.

I did not find a product that offers similar functionality to the Drobo. Replacing a hard drive (if possible) in any other brand enclosures would require reformating. Moreover data would be lost and you need to re-backup everything.

when i was in New York 3 weeks ago, i found it on the shelves of a Mac Store called "Tekserve" they had it on display... it looks very nice, but i ended up getting a Macbook Air instead from the Apple store... so maybe next time... for some reason after seeing it, i wasnt as tempted to spend 500$ on it just yet :P

its worth it if you compare to RAID enclosures

Their site drobo.com have a "drobolator" a simulator that shows its features...
I already have a time capsule though but this drobo would be smarto for a media server
the only disadvantage ... 2 ....
No firewire and no power switch ....
