HP Printer Software Issue I'm using HP 1350 Printer along with my iMac. Since of late, time to time, I get a Message on my apple screen about " HP Software Update - New Software is available" However, in the message box, there isn't any software up dates listed - it's just an empty box ! So, I've been hitting the "Cancel" button to get rid of this annoying message box. I'm not too sure where the problem is ; Printer, Printer application or Apple ? But, the Message Box that appears on the screen time to time is really so annoying. Any idea/thoughts on how to get rid of this once & for all ? Thanks SG

Did you check manually if there is updated versions of the software for the printer? I looked at HP's support info for the printer and it doesn't say anything about this issue. I don't have an HP printer or the HP software installed so I don't know if there is an app or utility where you can turn off the software checking. You could perhaps see if there's an HP folder in Applications and see if there's something in there. I guess you could kill the HP component that runs somewhere in the background and checks regularly. Check in System Preferences > Accounts > Login items. If it's not there you can run Activity Monitor and see something running that looks like it could be it. Then you can kill it. The problem with that is that it will start again next time you boot. Neither of those will really fix the problem, merely minimize the symptoms.

Thanks for the tips. I've just unchecked the box (Check Software Updates daily) which I found in HP application folder. Hopefully, this should work ! This is what I like in this forum - there is some one at least I can ask help + advise. Wish I would've known about this site long before
