    Upgrade MAC book

    Hi all,

I have a MAC book white, with 2 GB ram. Is it possible to upgrade it to 4 GB, and is there any upgrade to the HDD. If it is possible, please suggest where i could do the same.

    TIA

    Zekky

You can upgrade both RAM and HDD and it's really easy. You can buy parts locally or online and do it yourself.

This is not a Mac thing.
You can check any PC shop that sells that stuff.
Just make sure you get the right kind of RAM and disk.

    I recommend buying locally.
The price difference is not that big.
Try Khalid Bin Waleed St. or Computer Plaza.

You can get the information from the System Profiler.

    Apple>About This Mac> More Info...

    That is not unlike Apple.

So you will have to buy new RAM to replace the old ones.

Just an FYI, opening up the Macbook White is not for the faint of heart. Lots of screws to undo and they are all different lengths too. Beware that the left hand corner has two screws there which are mostly aesthetic, however can present a challenge when removing the top case.

Hmm... are we talking about the same white MacBook? I've serviced many of them. Upgrading RAM and HDD is very easy. Opening the main case might be a pain but you don't need to do that for RAM and HDD. Check the guides on http://www.ifixit.com.

RAM is quite easy. Take battery out and remove the bracket. The hard drive still requires the removal of the top case, which is the annoying part. In the new macbook unibody you do not need to remove the top case, as the top case is the chassis.
