Magnus, maybe we are talking about different white Macbooks. I just check the docs in Service Source and the unibodies are the only ones which don't need it. I was referring to Late 2006 model.
If you don't dare to dream, you'll always live in status quo - and we all know how boring that is!

I am just browsing through as I thinking of updating the RAM, I have a white MacBook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Before I go splashing the cash and opening the casing. CAn anyone advise to how many slots of RAM I have? Therefore how many I need to buy. ie if there are two slots I will get 2 x 2GB if there is only 1 I'll get 1 x 4 GB.

The reason for the RAM upgrade is that video playback is suffering, ie Youtube & Vimeo.

Next on the list would be the HDD but one at a time for the moment.

    Thanks

MacTracker will give you all the info you need - either online, or download the free app...

A common scenario is where one has only 2 slots, and they are both holding, say, a 1GB RAM module. To upgrade one would typically replace the said modules by larger ones e.g. 2GB each... Again MacTracker will tell you what you have and what upgrades are possible.

Some online shops like MacSales will also provide all the info, upgrade options, even installation tutorials, etc. They even have trade-in programs, for that old RAM...
    Cheers,
    -Michl

    Hi guys,

I'm new here and wanted to submit a contribution to this thread. so here's a PDF that I found recently on the web, and it shows perfectly how to proceed for changing HDD and then (I presume) also access to RAM.

Thanksneamine, that's obviously Apple's guide. We've also done a few in for different models.

You can check any PC shop that sells that stuff.
Just make sure you get the right kind of RAM and disk.

    I recommend buying locally.
The price difference is not that big.
Try Khalid Bin Waleed St. or Computer Plaza.
    Hi fangpyre,

do you have any direction on how to get to Computer Plaza ?

    Thanks

If you know the main Jumbo place on Khalid Bin Walid St. (aka Bank St.) its right across it next to the Spinney's.
Its called Al Ain Computer Plaza.
    Stay hungry. Stay Foolish.
