Macbook Hard disk and memory
Hi Guys,
I have a white macbook having an 80GB hard disk and 1GB RAM running OS X 10.4.11. I would like to upgrade the same to a 320GB with 2GB ram and running the latest OS. Any idea who does this in Dubai? Or can I buy the hard disk and RAM locally and DIY?

Macbook Hard disk and memory
Hi navin,
I did the same operation 2 months back - got a hdd from computer plaza for 190 aed and a 2gb ram for 170 aed (I hope the prices are correct
just can't recall exact amounts - sorry) total 360 - I asked the service guys @ virgin they offered to do it for 800 (only the hdd) plus they'll transfer all my datas for me. To be honest it is more delectable when you do it by your self !
Back home the operation is quite easy to process (there's a tutorial I uploaded on this forum - a quick search and you'll get it)
Good luck !

Hi Amine,
I finally went out to Computer plaza and bought a 4GB RAM for Aed. 250.00 and a 500GB hard disk for 450.00 and also an 320GB external hard disk for Aed. 390.00 (I used this to back up my earlier data) and did the installation myself. It is pretty straight forward and honestly very simple. I was able to upgrade from my Tiger OS X to Snow Leopard, without losing any data, settings or any of the applications that I have from earlier. Amusingly the new hard disk that I had purchased was an original Apple and already contained the entire Snow Leopard OS X preinstalled. However, since I wanted the back up to be installed, I first reinstalled from my External HD and later upgraded the OS X.
