A joystick is nothing more than a odd looking keyboard. There is no driver for it. All you need to do is to install Logitech software which will allow you to assign key bindings. Trust LT website more than you trust the box. The box might be old.
Has anybody had good experience in connecting the LOGITECH FREEDOM 2.4 JOYSTICK to a MAC for Gaming, PARTICULARLY X-PLANE 9 (Flight simulator for MAC)???
How can I check that it is recognized by the system?
Backround: The Package come with a driver CD but only for windows. On the package it says it would be compatable to MAC OS9.
Also on the LOGITECH web-page it is mentioned to be compatable. But you won't find any driver here either.
I have searched the www but could not find anything.
Any idea who or what could help?
Thanks for help,
OLIVER

Exactly THIS is te problem: WHERE do I find the LOGITECH SOFTWARE???
There may not be any Logitech software. That there is none for download from there site is a good sign of this.
However, people online (through Google search) seem to say it works with Mac as well as X-Plane.
Do you run OS 9 or X? (Since you wrote "On the package it says it would be compatable to MAC OS9") OS 9 is pretty old and discontinued since many many years and it had a lot more issues with USB compared to X.
Does the joystick work on another computer (perhaps even Windows)? With other games? Just trying to rule out the joystick itself being the problem.
I've used a Logitech joystick with X-Plane on my iMac without additional software and without problems. X-Plane has extensive joystick setup and calibration options for assigning functions to the buttons and switches.
Hi everybody,
I would like to revive this thread,
The problem is still the same (I just did not have the time to look into it again - believe it or not.).
UPDATE:
1. I can tell you now that this joystick is technically tested since it works totally fine on other machines.
2. In my utilities/system profiler/usb you can see that my OS 10.6.2 recognizes the Logitech Freedom 2.4 without problems.
3. I followed the instructions in the x-plane manual and moved the joystick in all directions under settings/joystick...
None of the bars start to move.
Under settings/buttons, none of the buttons are recognized when I press the buttons on the joystick.
PLEASE somebody tell me whats wrong!?
Kind regards
Oliver
