Whats your take, PlayStation 3 Or XBox 360 lite?

    Guys,
About to purchase a gaming console but pretty confused with mixed reviews.
Both have equal pros and cons.
Equally great graphics using HDMI cables instead of the original ones provided.

XBox can be modified as of now and cracked games can be played, however its not yet cracked on PS3 since its using Blue Ray Disk.

Once XBox modified it cannot be used over the net for online gamming.

Just seeking help to decide what console i should go in for.
    Additional info, inputs greatly appreciated.

    Like you said.
    Both are really great machines.
Both have amazing graphics, and are great media centers.
Both have strong online presence, which makes the gaming experience something else.
There are 3 decisive points that you need to consider.

    1) Bluray. The PS3 can play Bluray disks, unlike Xbox. In fact it is probably the best Bluray disk you can ever buy. In fact many reviews compare Bluray drives to the PS3.

    2) Games. You need to find out what games you will be playing. There are games you won't find on another platform. XBox has the majority of exclusive software. For example Halo isn't available on the the PS3.

    3) Price. You can get a cheap XBox if you want. But serious users will find themselves getting the more advanced systems.

Another minor point is that the PS3 can take Linux and become a full fledged computer.
I think as far as hardware is concerned, the PS3 is the stronger machine.
But what matters is how it is used.
    Stay hungry. Stay Foolish.

    I agree with FG.

Figure out what games you want to play and go from there. Also, IIRC XB360 has larger online community. It was launched way ahead of PS3 and there are always hella people online playing whatever it is that you are into playing.

    merrick,
like FG said it depends on your preferred genre of games like whether you like RPGs, Sports, Mystery, etc. If you are a big halo fan, you have to have a Xbox, else go for the PS3.

I bought my PS3 after Blu Ray won the format war. My PS3 is a console, Blu Ray player and an Ubuntu machine all rolled into one and all of this required no cracking. Linux on PS3 is not considered hacking and the warranty is not void, infact it is encouraged by Sony & best part is I can connect my external usb drive to it & watch movies without needing to write DVDs

So my vote is definitely for the PS3.

Agree with most of the points mentioned above. Would like to also add that although you can install Linux over PS3 to play any kind of movies (though VLC), both X360 and PS3 can play Divx files straight away.

I got myself a PS3, its has some nice exclusives like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Resistance, and the soon to be released: Killzone 2 & God of War 3.
But still, X360 has some nice exclusives like Halo & Gears of War.

I guess both ways you cant go wrong!

I'd also recommend a Nintendo Wii if you're that type of a "family" person. All members of the family can enjoy the Wii (not only you). And you can also use it to stay fit. But keep in mind that it's not the CoreGamer's choice

I'm an addictive gamer and I have all gaming consoles available in the market (Except for PS ONE ) and I always recommend the PS3 if you have more money to spend. And guys have already proven that point above
