Aramex delivered Spore last night, will see what the fuss is about with Spore. Probably do a review of it for Shufflegazine Nov.

have been hearing a lot about Spore lately, yet Phil made me more excited about it when he tested it on the new iPod touch in the last event.

im not buying it soon, i usually like to try the demo first , i saw the Creature Creator available as trial, but why would i want to create a creature if im not able to play with it

Then you have Spore Origins, not the full Spore game. Spore Origins is just the first part of the full game. I thought Origins was pretty fun for some casual gaming.

I saw Spore (the full game not spore creatures) at Virgin AUH Mall last week, but I'm still wondering if I should get it or not.

It got terrible reviews at Amazon because of a new DRM system limiting you to 3 installations (after that you should call EA in hope that they would understand your situation). Seriously within few hours over 1,000 reviews gave 1 star because of the DRM system!

Hope you can review it Magnus, and tell us aside from the DRM issue, how is the game itself like!

    Spore? Why not?

    Hello everyone,

I have been playing Spore for the past week straight. Even had to let my lvl 70 Night Elf priest rest for a while...until the next AV week end (non WoW players, I apologize for sounding like a retard)!!

anyway, back to Spore: it is cute, it is fun. It has a lot of potential. True, the whole DRM thing sucks, but hey, we live in a world controlled by corporations, so just roll with it (for now, until the Revolution).

Again, back to Spore: there are 5 stages: cell, creature, tribal, city, and space. All in all, it is a breeze getting to Space. along the way, you get to manipulate evolution and turn ur creature into the oddest looking thing ever. You can also get online, upload ur creature, download other creatures etc..

you also get to design the city u live in, the vehicles u use bla bla bla bla. it's all for looks anyways, as what you create does not affect ur creature that much (ie: 1 lvl leg = 5 lvl 1 legs). does look cool though.

I am currently in space, fighting off some species while allying myelf to others. Still looking for Earth (there is a video on Youtube of some guy blowing Earth up).

Graphics look lovely, controls are lacking, interactivity leaves something to be desired.

If you are looking for a game that u can just log onto, screw around with for a little while, then log off, then Spore is for you. If you want to express your creativity by coming up with some of the freakiest looking aliens ever, this game is for you.

However if you want to SW:Pain someone, shield, mind flay, mind flay, mind blast and melt some Horde faces, this is NOT for you.

    Peace!

I have two questions for those who have installed Spore on the Mac:

    1. Can you install the game on an account without admin privileges?
    2. Does it ask for your Admin password when installing?

I wouldn't trust Spore on my Macbook. Maybe when I get a new Mac and don't mind if my precious Blackbook gets borked.

The 3 install limits is bad enough (how am I going to call EA from Bahrain?), but the SecuROM rootkit coming to Mac is even worse. I'm wondering of a rootkit can even exist in OSX. Seems to me if the root files are properly protected, then it shouldn't.

All I'm saying is be careful. A guy on the MacRumors forum said that his Macbook suffered from Kernel panics soon after he installed Spore, and he had to get his hard drive replaced. Lucky he had Applecare

I'll wait and see how SeuROM affects Mac before I touch anything that has it. My Macbook is my one and only Mac. Please keep me informed guys. SecuROM is main reason I'm going back to console gaming.

    I cry myself to sleep

    DO NOT INSTALL SPORE!

Thats all I can say. My Macbook Pro crashed and burned. I took it to the service store, and they are supposed to call me back tonight (by the way, they really are a friendly bunch).

Did the hard disk die? did some monster virus from outer space eat up my entire memory?

all i know is that i was downloading the latest Spore patch, and it was about to auto-start/install when the comp just died on me.

    so, wish me luck people.

I will let you know what happened as soon as i find out.

    Peace!

Do you know for sure it had to do with installing Spore? I've installed and run Spore on a Mac Pro without any issues.
