I got mine working on 2.0.
But to be honest, I'm wishing I didn't upgrade.

The iPhone is only as good as its 3rd party software.
I can't get the old apps to work, and there aren't enough of 2.0's

Problems I have (and I'm working on):
- SMSD
- Arabic
- Installer
- Offline Maps

Any ideas guys?

Oddly enough, I got a text message from etisalat today with the new firmware, and it appears to properly support arabic (versus the old placeholder boxes).

I of course can't confirm, since I don't read arabic...

Installer has been replaced with Cydia, which has an (admittedly) smaller repo than Installer at the moment. But don't forget you should have access to AppStore, which works very well (Remote is such a great 'no brainer' app...)

Regarding maps, mine is *finally* updating my location...this was a feature that never worked before. Of course it's not true GPS, but hey, it's something.

Offline maps also appears to work just fine on mine, although I haven't tested it thoroughly.

SMSD?

It shows Arabic letters, but it doesn't connect them.
I was surprised to see that.

It has always been able to locate for me.
Unfortunately, it requires an open Internet connection.
What I meant by Offline Maps is the ability to save maps, and switching between them offline.
Normally, it keeps a cache, but it ain't too big.

Cydia is actually better than Installer.
But without the extra apps, its no good.
I copied Installer onto it, but it didn't work.

SMSD is a much stronger SMS program, and what the actual SMS program should have been.
It lets you forward messages, as well as forwarding messages to email.
This too didn't work.

I don't think they have the contract free phones yet.
For me, the new one doesn't offer that much more.

GPS doesn't give directions, and needs Internet.
3G, I rarely download over EDGE anyway.

Everything else is the same.
But I recommend you wait for 2.0 for some time till things settle down.
At least till Installer is up.

OK ... it has started working ! Well my mobile me accounts has ! e-mails, contacts and calendar's pushed to the phone.

Didn't change anything, but left the network settings in and ... Bingo, e-mails started coming through. When you ask it to update, it comes with the error message ! Strange eh !
