iPhone 3G support by Etisalat?

Hey guys,
Im currently in the US and the iPhone 3G is going to be released on July 11th. I wanted to know if Im able to crack the phone, will I be able to use the 3G services with Etisalat to get 3G internet on the iPhone or Etisalat does not support 3G internet with cell phones?! Ill appreciate it if anyone who has any info about that could help me! Thanks!

namirfathi, welcome.

A "cracked" iPhone may not be necessary. There is speculation that AT&T, Orange and others may be offering "unlocked" iPhone 3Gs. Personally I am not holding my breath for AT&T (not immediately at launch at least).

With that in mind, if you have an unlocked iPhone 3G, yes, in theory it should work fine with Etisalat.

My experience is that Etisalat actually has a more robust (and up-to-date) 3.5G network than AT&T anyways. So one might argue that the iPhone will actually work *better* with Etisalat.

Time will tell of course, it may be in your best interests to wait and hear about others experiences before you buy one.

Thanks Hanzo,
You kind of gave me hope with the Etisalat 3G service providing, so I think Im gonna go ahead and buy the phone, crack it, and then try to connect to the 3G service with Etisalat! And Ill be glad to give feedback to anyone who needs it from there! If anyone else knows any other info about this, ill appreciate the feedback.

What Hanzo says is true.
However, it won't work faster than AT&T becasue the chip is the bottleneck.

But it should work.
Keep in mind we still don't know how to unlock it, and that may take some time before it is done.

but do mind that the package for proper usage (unlimited 3g - 10gb per month) is 495Dhs per month... and boy is it fast...
tried it on the USB modem... 100 mb in like 5 - 6 mts.... 450kbps download (avg. HDSPA - varies from 160 - 300 on UTMS connection)

but relatively the connection is really fast if you can shell out 500 per month... the next option is 200mb at 295dhs or something... i.e. if you can limit your iphone experience to just 200mb...

enjoy...
