Iphone went swimming and still works...but

Well my girlfriend accidently dropped my iphone into the pool and it took me about 8 to 10 seconds to swim over and fish it out. After doing all the recommended things to save it, thankfully it is now working fine BUT.. the battery goes flat in 6 to 8 hours. I looked in the "useage" page on the phone and the usage was 6hrs 25mins and the "standby" was 6hrs 31mins when I'd only made a handfull of calls??

I've come to the conclusion it thinks it is running a feature on the phone constantly which I think is the ipod. When I enter ipod it sometimes has the speaker symbol on already before I select any thing.
Has anyone seen this before or know of a fix?? Will re-installing the software help here?
The other problem is it won't switch off. I slide to turn off and it does but 1 second later it turns back on.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Sorry for the late reply Simmo.
Just cam in from out of time.

Try pushing both the Power and Home buttons together till it shuts down.
If that doesn't work, we can try to reinstall everything.
Please backup your phone using iTunes before we do anything.

Fangpyre,
The reset has worked somewhat with the battery! It lasted from 5am to 10pm which is a huge improvement and makes the phone useable again. It still doesn't turn off but at least it will last a day now and hopefully it improves again yet?? Thanks!!

And Zaid, the girlfriends life hung in the balance and was directly linked to the wellbeing of the phone. She is breathing a little easier in the last few days!!

Good to hear.
That means if you need to switch off your fone you need to go to airplane mode.

This whole mess doesn't make any sense.

BTW, Hope she doesn't read this post.
Otherwise you'll require life support.
And if your lucky, it won't be tied to your iPhone.
