Displayed numbers, again I have all my contact numbers placed in the Address Book, and synced from there to my iPhone. Most of the times, whenever i get a call, the phone will not display caller name and picture even though the caller is saved in my contacts. I noticed that adding 971 (UAE code) before the number caller details will display but then I can't make a call with such format 97150... I read gaurang's thread about changing US display style, but was afraid to proceed with it since I haven't done any thing similar before. Perhaps gaurang's method will solve my issue, I'm not sure.

hala Zaid, i had the same problem in Bahrain... my address book is perfectly organized... but i have +971... for every phone number... it works perfectly fine... and my names and pictures appear... buuuuuuuuuutt.. sometimes it tends to not show me that the number is saved and shows me 02.... for AD... its anoying... but that was rare... it hardly happens... theeeeeeeeennn 2 months ago when i was in Bahrain... every time someone calls me with in bahrain from a bahrainy number there saved info doesnt appear and it shows me there number without the area code of bahrain... i figured out it was from the NETWORK.. not the iPhone.. becaaaaaauuuseeee... i have done some tests... if you same a number.. lets say... +971501234567 with the name Appleholic... then when you go to dial a number and type 050-1234567 my name will appear under the number even though i have not added +971 to the number.. so the iPhone is smart enought to recognize the number without the area code... but its the network ETISALAT or BATILCO that confuses the phone some time

Obviously adding a plus (+) symbol before 971 code will do the trick. It will show me all caller details, and I'm able to make a phone call, as without the + I wasn't able to call from within UAE since dialing 971 will give an error.

Only an exact thread (Saved number - EG +971509999999), that is also broadcasted by the network as +971509999999 will result in a Name and Photo match. Sad but true. In Dubai when you save a land line number as 043456789 and receive the call in Dubai from 043456789 it will display the Name and Photo (If saved of course) Now if you travel abroad and receive a call from 043456789 you are not going to get a name and photo - but a new number, with the format +97143456789. Therefore the threads have to have an exact match, so it is only possible for one network, unless you save the number twice. Nokia / Ericsson have a smart fix to this - in that it reads the last 8 digits from the end of the number (Will read 43456789 from the previous example) , and if they match, the name and photo is displayed. Usually, the last 8 digits never change, even when you move to different networks. Smart. I will try and program a reverse reader/truncator for the iPhone to fix this, but can't promise it will work. I guess I have to get ready for another restore if it doesn't. ;(
