Hello, my mother goes to Dubai next Wednesday. I want to know if it's really possible to buy an iphone in Dubai and where she can buy it?

Thanks in advance

Hello Acidjack. Welcome to Emirates Mac!

The iPhone is not officially available in the UAE and we have no real idea when it will be released here.

American versions hacked to work here (and elsewhere) are however being sold in the UAE. You can find them in most Virgin Mega Stores. They are located in Emirates Mall, City Center, and Mercato (spelling?) as well as many smaller mobile shops around town.

They will cost you just under 4000 UAE Dirhams and are sold as is with no warranty what so ever. As a member of an Apple user group I'd like to point out that these iPhones are in every essence "illegally" sold and do go against Apple's End User License(s)

Good Luck!

Information!

It is absolutely NOT illegal to unlock or sell an unlocked iPhone. (This does not apply for official apple outlets. For them it's still not illegal, but they can be held liable by Apple)

Period.
