Smile About this Development Forum

Dear Mac-Friends.

I am developing on Mac for several years and would like to share some basic Software Development fundamentals with you. I would appreciate to get feedback on the tutorials and hints which i will post step by step, as well as i will try to answer all questions abt the same matter.

Okay, then happy coding... Stefan

Sure, we'll give feedback.

I'll start off with a question: if someone wants to get into programming/development on a Mac, what and where should they start with?

Well this is a very good question which i would answer with: wherever you want...

Point is that developing is a big field, i am planning to touch more fields of development and based on the response i will go ahead with the more famous one...

Wherever you want may be true, but for someone who is interested but has no prior experience it doesn't help much to give that sort of advice. It needs to be more specific.

I am sorry that i didnt specify it proper. I'll try it again based on my previous entry:

My plan was basicaly to start with a Widget example. After this i planned to go into small applications based on C/C++ which can come up to GUI (Graphical User Interface). Java would be even intersting for Multi OS development. Finally i am thinking to go into setups/installers, packing of application into macintosh .app's.

Important to say is that we should not start to fast... that everyone who is interested in it has some time to learn, try and request for help.

My ideas are endless... but lets see slowly how much interest we will get with it.

Maybe we come so far that we create a editor for PHP/HTML/... which supports syntax higlighting and so on... *but let it be a dream first*

I hope i answered it now according your question... sorry again for my short answer above...

Sounds good to me. Not sure why you would want to build (another) editor though, there are so many good ones
