Car styling question If i wanted to put decals on my Ford Focus and for starters i wanted to put one of em under-car neon lights, do i need any police papers ? or any permission for that ? I know body modifications and engine modification *looks at ultrablue* need police papers. But what about dubai for the changes i need ? Cheers.

There is a pretty cool car club that Im a member of. UAE Boost Ask that question in the forums. And Im sure someone with experience (and a whole lot of people without) will chime in. I had ALOT of graffix on my old Lumina SS. I was only pulled over once for them, in 4 years, and was told it was illegal, but was not given a ticket. If it doesnt change the appearance of the car too much you are ok. if it changes the color of the car drastically, you need to have the graffix included on your registration card. If you are a law abiding moder... which few are. lol. Neons? LEDs live longer, are brighter, and break less. not that expensive either. Anyways, undercar kits are illegal in the UAE. they will however be overlooked by authorities if you have them on it a parking lot or a car show. Driving around with them ON will get you into ALOT of trouble. and if the color is blue or red (as mine were) the cops will LOVE you even more.

Aight ultrablue, you are officially in my hatelist, which also happen to include unicorns and bill gates ! lol kiddin :P Wow, didnt know undercar kits were illegal ! i mean i swore i would have seen 3 or 4 on emirates road or near mall of the emirates on my way back home. So how come they have it on ? Is it completely illegal or you need special permissions to get them done ? Secondly, the decals that i thought of using would be like a streak of fire on either sides of the car, would i need to include that ? And lastly, how cheap are bodykits here ? Apart from the big mod shops are there a few small ones that have bodykits for focus ?

When you say illegal, you mean officially. Neons are illegal in the US if the car is moving. they are illegal everywhere. unless you have the car parked. The people who have them on on the weekends on SZR for example, are using them at their own risk. like I said, officially, they are illegal. now if a cop is going to actually in force that law or not, its up to him. I mean, officially, 90% of whats done to my car isnt legal. but I stay out of trouble, avoid cops, and try to not drive at WOT all the time. No, I dont think that is too bad, the SS had far more decals, I practically made her a 2 toned car. a few nice touches isnt shouldnt get you into trouble. Body kits? eh. they arent that expensive, but arent as cheap as in the US. also depends on quality. fiber glass is of course cheaper... but more prone to braking, cracking, and color fade. Urethane kits are well made, and bend rather than crack, but are about double the price. Truthfully, even the larger shops/garages cant be trusted sometimes here (remember, you're doing things that are in a gray area when it comes to legality. This isnt the US where your rights as a consumer can be enforced) so I would never ever trust a smaller no name sshop. That being said many shops in Sharja's Al Sinaeya have kits. and all the larger known ones in Dubai will order you anything you want. Voom tunning, Subzero motorsports, and Bin Sullayem (yeah, the rally guy) performance are a few of the more well known ones In Dubai. In Shj you have Al Capri.
