  2. Upgrading is always full of surprises

    Okay, it's not every day that you upgrade a web site to a completely new version of the software that runs it but today I did. We went from vBulletin 3.8.4 to 4.0.1.

    We've been using a system together with vBulletin that is called vbSEO and basically it rewrites URLs so they are more search engine friendly. See, search engines don't generally like to see "...threadid=123". Instead they like "123-i-bought-a-new-macbook". And that's what vbSEO offers, it rewrites URLs on the fly. And ...

  3. Upgrading surprises

    I guess I should have known better but the upgrade this morning to vbulletin 4.0.1 was anything but uneventful. It seemed like there was problem after problem and some just had to work around while others I had to tackle head on. So now at least the forums are working so you can keep discussing things and we're still spidered by search engines.

    There is much left to do and explore. I will put advertising back and we're working on getting a custom look to the site as previously announced. ...
