Too bad, because i was just about to buy a Bold from Germany.
But you say on BIS is might work?
Do you know how we can find out? I mean do you know people who are traveling a lot from Germany so we can put a sim in their BB
I will also try to make a deal with the guy that if it is not working i can send it back.
Thanks Magnus (great site btw)
If BIS works then BES will surely work. Because BIS is more carrier-centric and BES is more corp-centric. I've setup a BES and it works reasonably well- cant wait for the Bold myself either!
Just to confirm that guys: Any unlocked Blackberry works fine. The protocol just cares about the BB ID which the device has. The SIM Lock has nothing to do with the ID. It will just prevent you from putting any SIM in the device.
I have been in germany last week and it is (officially) only available with a 2 year contract as usual from t-mobile, vodafone, o2, e-plus or freenet.
EDIT:
I just saw its 800$ now on tigerdirect....
Couple of my friends checked out the Bold and weren't too impressed. Like myself they've been Curve owners and the Bold just feels big now. So I guess the wait starts for Javelin now. I dont really need 3G on my phone which is my experience has just been a battery drainer.
Well it once again pretty much depents on your requirements. 3G is indeed a battery killer but it will save you some time when you rush from the plane to the meeting and you need to check your hotel booking etc. I dont wanna miss it although the 3G in this part of the world is more 1G. Its so damn slow I have no idea why they actually dare to charge us for this annoying speed.
Anyway the bold has advantages compared to the Curve. And there are many. Sure you wont realize it if you dont use them and in fact its not much bigger?! I would even go that far to say it is currently the best business device on the market. E71 is close to it and Palm Pro will be closer.
They just should do something about the OS... its really old...
Just my 2 cents..
Apparently he Bold is available Sept 9 in Luxembourg for 390 Euros without contract, so around AED2100.
Now we just need to find someone who will get us one from there![]()
A little birdie told me that Etisalat is expecting to announce the device next month. No idea about the price.

Let's hope little birdie is rightSome other little birdie told me they would do it at GITEX.
