EMUG Meetings in Abu Dhabi?

I've got a few requests over the last few weeks for EmiratesMac Apple User Group meetings in Abu Dhabi. Some of you may remember that the very first meeting of EMUG was in Abu Dhabi and we tried to have other meetings there but there was no interest. It always seemed to be that people in Abu Dhabi didn't mind driving to Dubai but Dubai people didn't want to go to Abu Dhabi.

Even though I am myself moving to Dubai in June, I'd be more than happy to arrange for meetings in Abu Dhabi and would try to come to as many as I can. But I'd like to ask how many of you would be interested in meetings in Abu Dhabi (members of EMUG or not) and where would you suggest we meet? We've got a very nice place to meet in Dubai at Tashkeel, and I'm not saying we need something as nice in Abu Dhabi but just meeting at a cafe or something similar is probably not going to work for very long. We need a regular place to meet, with internet connection (wifi). Any ideas would be very welcome.

I am in favor of having meetings in Abu Dhabi and perhaps Al-Ain to be fair with our members in these towns.

Is that a permanent shift or occasional meetings?
I only attended one so far.
So I'll refrain from voting.

I plan on showing up at the next one.

I guess it depends on what members want. But I think we'll keep meetings in Dubai (and hope more people can make it to them!) and also do meetings in Abu Dhabi if there's enough interest.

So far two Dubai members have commented - where are the Abu Dhabi people?

I will be more than happy if u make meetings in AD (at least from time to time), a good place could be the Cultural Foundation, with lots of halls and large lobby.

Dont take that personal, but people from AD dont like to go to Dubai because of traffic jams (which is something we dont see in AD!!!)

Hey Dubai and AD people

seems there's a conflict here about the place

well I think may not be permanent place either for Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It's a waste of almost a full day for everyone to drive from AD to Dubai and vers versa.

I got an idea Magnus, u got details of all of us members, why don't you make a simple calculation of how many residents in both places and distribute the amount of meeting times of each place in percentage congenitally

I hope I was able to express my idea clearly

Sure, I understand. I think with Tashkeel we have such a nice place to meet that there's little reason to give it up. It is our "home" so to speak.

If we can find a place in AUH where we can have meetings too, that'd be great. We'll check the EMUG members' details. But we've received several questions over the last few weeks from non-members who would consider joining if we'd only have meetings in AUH.

Ayham's idea ain't that bad.

The drive is hassle either way.
But now with Tashkeel, you don't drive into the traffic.

If we meet in a cafe or restaurant in Abu Dhabi, it would be ok with me.
Considering Tashkeel to be our mother ship, a change every now and then would be nice.

That's a nice way of looking at it.

Hummm.. I'm from Dubai, and my wife is AD... so both places are my homes..

I feel place is not important if many people showed up. members will get excited and time will fly bye..
