EmiratesMac Announces Partnership with Tashkeel

We're proud and excited to announce a new partnership. EmiratesMac Apple User Group will work together with Tashkeel in Dubai on various areas.

Tashkeel, set up by Shaikha Latifa Al-Maktoum, is an innovative hub for creative minds located in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai. Tashkeel aims to unite artists of different ages and varied experience - from university students to practicing artists and designers. Individuals can pay for membership in Tashkeel to make use of their extensive facilities in areas of design, crafts, photography, video, and much more. Some of their specialist facilities include a Mac computer studio, equipped* with the latest creative software, large format digital printing, jewelry workstations, painting studio, photographic darkroom, printmaking and silk screen studio, textile printing and 3d workshops.

EmiratesMac will hold it's monthly meetings in the Mac lab at Tashkeel, and will also arrange Mac training in their facilities. EmiratesMac User Group members can get a 10% discount on Tashkeel membership (normally AED700 per month), and Tashkeel members can sign up for membership in EMUG for AED100 per year (normally AED150).

Since we're changing our meetings to Tashkeel we have to change meeting day as well. So we're changing from Fridays to Saturdays at the same time, 4pm. When we're ready to do training, we'll announce that on the site as well.

Tashkeel is located in the Nad Al Sheba area of Dubai, and you can see a map here. You can also download the Google Earth coordinates and see exactly where the location is.

We would like to thank Sheikha Latifa and Jill at Tashkeel for this great opportunity. We hope this is the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.

From photos, I have the feeling that I shall feel I'm in my right place. With the facilities available such as wide format printing, dark room, and certainly Mac Lab I'm feeling proud already that EmiratesMac is partnering with Tashkeel.

I hope we can benefit from them, as well as benefiting them by publicizing the facility so Mac users and other creative amateurs and professionals could use this facility.

Just a little note to clarify, we don't get access to the whole facility just because we have meetings and training there. To utilize the whole facility, outside of what we use for meetings and training, EMUGers will have to become members of Tashkeel. For meetings and training we have access to the Mac lab and their lounge for coffee breaks.

It is a wonderful facility and we hope that many EMUGers will consider becoming members in Tashkeel. If you're into any creative arts, whether it's textiles, metal, wood, painting, sculpting, photography, video or something else, you're sure to find support there.
