Apple's special event is over again and I'll try to summarize it here.
Steve Jobs started by saying facts and figures:
* 600 million copies of iTunes distributed.
* Over 3 billion songs bought on iTunes.
* The number one music store in all 21 countries we operate in.
* We started with just 200k songs, but we have over 6m songs.
* We've become the number 3 music retailer in the US -- behind Wal-Mart and Best Buy, ahead of Amazon and Target.
Over 550 shows, sold over 95m shows, 125k podcasts.
* In the US of all the music releases in 2006, 32% were digital-only releases.
Ringtones for iPhone:
* Custom ringtone maker in new version of iTunes.
* You can pick from 500000 songs on iTunes Store to make your own ringtone.
* Cost $0.99 in addition to the song.
* A ringtone then costs $1.98.
iPod:
* Sold 110 million iPods to date.
* Replace every single product in the lineup.
* iPod shuffle in colors, red, silver, teal, light blue, red.
* iPod shuffle same 1GB, $79.
* Video capable nano, with Cover Flow.
* Games on nano, comes with three games.
* New 2-inch screen, QVGA resolution.
* New nano comes in colors.
* Battery life, 24 hours audio, 5 hours video playback.
* 4GB version $149.
* 8GB version $199.
* iPod is now iPod Classic.
* Full metal design, even thinner.
* 80GB, $250.
* 160GB, $350.
* No touch (on Classic)
* But.... iPod Touch!
* Looks like iPhone.
* 8mm thin.
* Same 3.5-inch display.
* Has WiFi.
* Has Safari.
* YouTube.
* No speakers.
* 22 hours of audio, 5 hours of video playback.
* 8GB, $299
* 16GB, $399
* iTunes WiFi Music Store.
* Buy from the iPod Touch, it syncs back to iTunes on the computer.
* Partnership with Starbucks, at Starbucks you can see what song they're playing and buy it through the WiFi store.
* Only in US for now.

just now finished watching the liveblog of the apple event and the videos of tocuhipod at apple.com and what can i say...awesome...i just got into this mac thingy buying my macbook couple of weeks back. just to check why everybody's been talkin abt apple and their products....now i am a complete apple fan and fanatic...waiting to get my hands on the iphone and new ipods..!!!!

I wouldnt mind an ipod touch, though I have had a 1st gen nano since they came out and have only used it while on planes. so its meaningless I guess. but damn if they arent sweet! Apple continues to blow my mind!

I just ordered the iPhone, I'm glad I didn't buy it 2 weeks ago.

One more thing, the discontinued 4GB iPhone can be bought at the Apple store for 299$ if you really want a cheap iPhone. Limited supplies!
