I avoided going to the event as I am not in a position to torture myself....as some of my friends have it already.....but the fone dose not work....so what is the point??? and I to the best if my abilities will try and avoid the thing....till I am able to get a fully operational one...

yes, we know that the phone doesnt work... so its not fully operational... that is exactly why ur not suppose to have one till Steve Jobs says so.... we all know that... but its a Human thing... no its actually an Apple cult thing... Every Appleholic/MacGeek would like to get there hands dirty with the iPhone even if it is not fully operational... just because its Apple... u might not understand how it feels to truly fall in love with Apple.... but i can tell u this... it is never pointless to get an non fully functional Apple creation... cause there is always a reason for a MacGeek to get his hands on Apples toys even if they dont work period...
i am getting one from the states because i am one of them... and in 10 years time iPhone 1st Generation US version would be precuse and hard to get ur hands on Just like a "pointless" Apple II made in 1984.... its for people who collect, its a Hobby... but its not pointless.... its a collecters edition how cool would it sound when in 10 years down the line i pop this little baby out of its box and say "check this beuty out, its one of a kind... the 1st Gen ipHONE ever made by Apple... this is what made Apple what it is now" and people would go woooooooooooooow that is sooo coool...even if it didnt work

oooo 1 more thing... ur wont torcher ur self if u see it or play with it... cause u never know, this iPhone might never reach the Middle East.. Maybe, just Maybe, Stevey has a completly different iPhone made for this side of the world... so wouldnt it be nice to have touched it, seen it, played with it... and at least know how it feels to cary one of the most elegant phone ever designed, by a non Cellphone company>?

LOL.... you are right....i could grab one.....but I will always feel something is missing...I collect macs in a way, but only in a functional manner ( dont really have the space and time to pickup everything) I'd love to have an Ifone ( even with limited functions) the only problem is i carry alot of gadgets with me as i go, 2 fones, Ipod( nano/shuffle), Powerbooks (2), DSLR, tripods (2) + mobile chargers [ now they reside in my car most of the time] getting a an ifone with limited functionality will add to the mess....as it is I wait for the hackers to unlock the thing before i am willing to touch it.....I'm another mac freak....but dont like the state of mac here...& i'm working to change that....
