I am going to wait for the official Asian version. Can't trust all these guys who claim things which seems theortically tough and expensive.

Latest bit of information that we learned today, is that the iPhone that starts selling here in January according to the earlier post, will not be 3G. It will be 2.5G, which is what the phone in the US is. EDGE is considered 2.5G. Again, we'll see if this turns out to be true, but I think many will be disappointed about this, if it is true.

I love my mac. I love my nano, but seriously, my money for cell phones goes directly to Sony Ericsson and their new S500i. The IPhone has ONE thing going for it. it runs on Mac OS X. aside from that, truthfully speaking, and technology wise, its pretty out dated for anyone outside of the US. so basically 3000 aed for an outdated phone, or 2000 for SE's newest wonder?

I beg to differ. Feature by feature, the iPhone may not come out ahead in comparisons, but in the case of iPhone I think those comparisons are not very fruitful. Sure 2.5G is not the latest, sure the camera is not the greatest, etc. But taken together, people who have used it, seem to say it by far leaps ahead of anything else in terms of usability. I've not tried one myself, and without having done so it's hard for any one of us to really have any useful verdict, I think. The iPhone is not for everyone. If you're happy with your Sony Ericsson, that's great. I'm pretty happy with my couple-of-years-old Blackberry. And perhaps I won't be very impressed with iPhone once I use one, but from what I can see and read so far, it looks like a really awesome device to me.

    hacking the iphone

I would be wary of software hacks for the iphone, especially any stating that they had 'un-locked' the phone.

As demonstrated with the apple tv, Apple has a nasty habit of using clean up scripts to wipe out 3rd party Hacks.

Hi Q8Music! You say you have the unlock software but you still can't use the iPhone as a phone? It's not really unlocked then, right? Sounds to me it bypasses the activation requirement. An unlocked phone can be used on any operator's network, as far as I understand it.

Then I would say it's not unlocked. All you've done is bypassed the activation, and that's not my understanding of unlocking a phone.

Please let us know if you find out any fix
