The day after the iPhone announcement I have an email in my inbox from a manager at one of the major mobile phone sellers in the UAE. It's one of the companies you see everywhere in advertising, in the malls, etc. The manager writes:
And I wish I could have come up with a funnier answer, but I wrote him back:I am the group category manager for [companyname]. Can you please let me know your Company Details and the proposed distribution model for the Ipod Phone. Also if you could indicate its availability as well as proposed cost price/selling price it would be helpful in evaluating the opportunity.
I'm sure I'll never hear from this person again. He couldn't get iPhone information out of me and that's all he was interested in.Hi [name]
Thanks for writing. I've actually been trying to get in touch with [companyname] without much success about possibly working together with Emiratesmac,
Unfortunately I think you misunderstand what Emiratesmac is. We're a community web site and user group. We arrange monthly meetings for our members and publish a newsletter.
We write reviews of products for the site and the newsletter and we would like to explore the possibility of working together with [companyname] on product news and reviews.
Concerning the iPhone, no one knows when it will be available here or the price. All Apple said yesterday was that it would sell in the US for $499-$599 but that is with a two-year mobile phone contract. They said it would be available in Europe late in 2007. So when it gets here and at what price, I don't think even Apple IMC ME knows.
Please let me know if we can discuss further cooperation between our two organizations.
So what's the point here: 1) we get similar emails from individual customers and businesses on average a few times per week meaning that EmiratesMac is getting noticed, and 2) everyone is going complete crazy over the iPhone, everyone wants it, everyone wants to sell it.
More on the iPhone, some smart*sses utilized the rather large screenshots of the iPhone to make a "skin" for use with a smartphone running Windows Mobile.Boy, do apple attorneys have some work to do.
iDubai beat you to it.
The iPhone is available NOW on this website
ACUTABOVE.. u r very correct... Apple lawyers are on top of this as we speak, regarding the miss-use of their iPhone icons, i have just read a couple of articles on this issue.. i guess Apple is still not used to the Cellphone world, and doesnt know that such a thing is a normal thing to cellphone users, where they make themes of there favourit products icons and have them as themes on there cellphone, but i think Apple will have to understand and live with itcause this is one market they can never control

Hey EmiratesMac, nice response to the letter from [company name]. I have to say, that was a smart & diplomatic reply and also grabbing the opportunity to promote EMUG![]()
