LOL.... i am an expert at cafes,,, they're my life, but the problem is im usually expert@sheesha cafes... ok, so i thought of more places, coffee shops to be exact... my best guess is Idioms... there's parking, there's wifi, theres good coffee, theres nice crowd, its NOT a mall, but the drawback is that it has sheesha...
the second i've come up with, is Cafe Du Roi, its in khalidiya, right on the corniche... its actually right under my building, no sheesha, heaps of parking, excellent coffee, but i need2check the wifi situation there.. this i can do today and post by tonight (sorry it'll take tht much time, im going to dubai for university work sorry!!)
the third option we have is Barista, in Marina Mall, which has an awesome lay-out to sit and im pretty sure it'll have wifi... i love the seating there...
the fourth is colombia (i tink it's called colombia, but ill post the definate name by tonight) which is @the back of marina mall in the new wing... it is AWESOME the seating, the view, the ambieance is terrific.... wifi is again the issue, not too sure on that... i will make sure i have answers to all the wifi problems by tonight... but is smoke isnt a big issue, i would recommend Idioms to be the best outa the lot.... but i'll update this by tonight adding which places have wifi....
keep in mind, all these cafes have been named keeping the parking situation in mind and there are awesome cafes without parking, so i hvnt named them...

Ahh, how come i missed this thread. Well living most of my life there and spend most of my university time in cafe's i am in doubt about free wi-fi, tho i'd like to know any new places that do offer this. Caribou coffee does offer its own free wi-fi but wonder if they have a branch in AUH.

    Time out abu dhabi have a few places and a few of my picks .. Time Out Abu Dhabi { Restaurants 97}, Time Out Abu Dhabi { Restaurants 266}, Time Out Abu Dhabi { Restaurants 278}, Time Out Abu Dhabi { Restaurants 180}, Time Out Abu Dhabi { Restaurants 3}

Apart from that i could suggest chillis or TGI Fridays, me get hungry every 10 minutes Select any place but one thats got a variety of food and who dont get tired of serving

I am not completely sure of me coming, but if thurdays night isnt rough and i can drive on friday then i'll come over. Usually i come on saturdays to meet my folks. But i'll try to make it ..

Costa offer free wi-fi, and many others. Starbucks offer Etisalat hotspots, so u need an Etisalat card!!

For the driving its easy man, Dubai-Abu Dhabi takes about 1:30 hour, and if u (like me) has a GPS that warns you about Radar locations then u can make it in less time

yea, costa has free wifi, and starbux has etisalat, so does idioms, etisalat hotspot tht is... good thinking gajanan,id prefer a place tht serves food aswell compared to a coffee house, i hvnt had food outside in like, 2 days now :P tired of home-made food :P but chilis isnt wat u'd call strategically placed for parking :P and neither is Fridays :P and no, caribou dsnt have a branch in AUH... is it really tht hard2find a decent place :| damn it!

ow and gajanan, good choice of cafes i wsnt thinking tht much class when we wanted2get together... :P geeks look weird around class :P i adore cafe florian people, anyone liking the cafes? or shud we move to restaurants?

Errr .. actually takes me 45mins plus an extra 10 in the city (been traveling auh - dxb everyday for the past 4 years to university and office so pretty much have a built-in radar spotter lol). Tho as i would think, many out there would want me "whacked" for driving that way. But atleast i am a "safe-maniac-driver" I try and avoid driving if i go out for drinks or even a quick social gathering that involves alcohol. The after effects are pretty bad on my side lol. But since its the next day evening, i would try and make it for sure.

excellent suggestion gajanan, but the weather dsnt really allow us, theres the sun, and then there's the coal :P we'd be drinking and eating our own sweat :P if it were october, nuthin wud be better than a BBQ...
+ i still dont have uni yet, so im still very very VERY lazy :P i'd rather be served food than make it :P u have my vote on food, altho my vote is on meeting up with people rather than coffee or food, it dnt matter tht much :P we have to decide by tonight people. cuz we need2up the map where we're meeting aswell... cmon cmon, more suggestions, more interaction, more people. and come gajanan, u'll love me :P (in the nice frndly way ofcourse:P) the more the merrier

LOL .. you some how remind me of my cat. Its like shez just taken 5 shots of caffein when she runs around and into things at home. Hyper !

Well BBQ is surely not a good idea this time of the year, but i was hoping you would serve while we have a LAN quake playout. worth a try lol. On a more serious note how does milano sound ? opposite ADmall. Its a sheesha cafe tho so not too sure. Another place that hits me is the bowling alley at ADmall. or havana cafe ... marina cafe .. corniche ..

so what did u decide guys, u r cafeholics guys!! i dont know that much, if i liked one i will stick to it like for ever
    so whats ur final suggestions!!??
I have no problem if its a restuarant, but u know some places are crowded on Fridays, so they will kick us out if we stay there for few hours, no?

Personally I think cafe is better than restaurant, most have wifi and more comfy seating. Just my 2 cents... Medopal, you started this tread so why don't you just pick a place out of all suggested and that's what where we'll go to

@gajanan, yes im sorry for being this hyper, but i always am this hyper, unless o'course i have university, then im as lazy and not bothered as a cow :P and if u ppl were having a LAN quake party, i'd just tell my servant to cook and all and i'd be in the LAN party :P i had given these options earlier gajanan, but people arnt keen on a place tht serves sheesha, thts why we're looking@different options

@magnus, excellent idea, u decide medopal, and we'll all say yes to it its like autocracy, u say sumthing, and we have no option but to say yes be a dictator man, and tell us how it feels to be one :P
