I'd say that either Canon or Nikon pro-series lenses are pretty darn good too.

canon is the best .Canon for more realistic colors. It's more comfortable and canon is a very popular brand.

Nikon is also a very popular brand. When it comes to colors and their representation, it's a highly subjective matter, as is whether it's comfortable. Ask different photographers and they'll tell you different things. Welcome to the site.

I am a Canon guy..
Both r good..

its like Mercedes and BMW, both are the best.
it is all about marketing, US photographes use Nikon while Europeans Canon..

but trust me on this
there is no better than Canon L series lenses, they are the BEST...

They are good but saying that there are no better ones is tough. Sure there are objective measurements for lenses but it very much comes down to personal preference of what you like and what the particular situation demands. A Holga might be just the right thing when an L lens is not, for example.

I won't try to sway you either way, which will make this pretty useless, but I will try to get you away from the D60. The problem with these lower end models, and not so much a problem as it is an annoyance, is that they are auto focus, but only if you buy the auto focus lenses.

I started shooting with a D40X, which was incrementally upgraded to the D60. I shot with the lens it came with for a few months, but then wanted to expand. I found out that lenses with the auto focus capability could run hundreds of dollars more than the normal lens with the same specifications.

I chose to shoot with a lens that required manual focus and I didn't mind that, until I started finding myself in situations where I wanted to shoot quickly, like I would with a point and shoot.

So 6 months after buying the D40X I started looking at upgrading, because it is nice to have the auto focus when you want it. I can highly suggest the D300 now. I can't see upgrading the body any time soon.
