Windows 7 in 2010 with multi-touch screen, u should be kidding!!

Hi guys,
did u hear yesterday tech news, M$ after announcing its new OS in 2010, again return and announced it will be multi-touch!!

M$ today demoed the new OS feature here

Another features: the new OS will include a DOCK doh!! and a new interface!! , again u guys should be kidding!!!

Now lets get to discussion
First thing why the hell did they announce Windows 7 while Vista is just yesterday released?? I'm no good in business but honestly i think announcing the next product while ur current product is s$$t that means u r in a big trouble!!

Second point, Redmond guyz plz plz plz stop ripping Mac, cuz u r simply bad in doing that, for god sake even when u wanted to demo it u used the two-finger technique to stretch the photo!! U can convince us in multi-touch using a game or something!!

Third, who in the world will need to replace his mouse with a touch screen!! I think thats good idea in a phone or in a music player, but for a computer!!! I mean im a web developer who spends 2/3 of his day holding the mouse, i dont want to replace that by gesturing on my screen!!!!
Im not against new technologies, but u should really think a little about it, quote "We never touch our PC screen, and we hate it when other people touch our PC screens"

Some Microhoo fan may come now and say its not ripping, yea right!! if i say i will show u something with multi-touch screen, a new interface and a dock!! honestly whats the first thing u will think about!!

I can spend a week discussing this, but lets hear some opinions:
- What do u think about announcing a product 3 years earlier, and one year after ur current product?
- What do u think about ripping, if u think its not plz explain (cuz its hard to believe)
- What do u think about multi-touch OSs, do u really think after 5 years people will dumb the mouse and "play" with their screens.

This is what Microsoft is good at, they announce something very early, then take forever to develop it, and usually make somewhat of a success out of it. My guess is so many people are unhappy with Vista that they need to give the impression that they're working on something nice for the next Windows version so users stick with Windows and not jump ship to Mac or Linux.

Concerning multi-touch interface, I think it can be a very good thing for some situations, some computers. A regular, typically low-cost, office computer won't benefit much from multi-touch, but a portable tablet-type computer would, for example.

The concepts seem "ripped" yes, but I think we need to wait until it's released to see what they're exactly doing. Let's remember that the original Mac OS was more or less "ripped" (at least as a concept) from XEROX.

Agreed also. I know Apple history more than my country history , anyway, Apple bought the GUI at first we all know, but later almost everything was innovative. Touch screen was used before iPhone, but y Nokia, Samsung, Sony nor BlackBerry tried to use it wisely as in the iPhone?? And now they do want??!!!!

I dont blame ripping general ideas. Something like what happens in cars!!!
Its good idea that Vista has a calendar like iCal, but ripping the iCal colors schema, thats not just ripping, the guys seem desperate.

Watch this guy, he is really amazing in explaining ripping!!

The ripping is evident when i comes to Windows.
MS hasn't been able to produce many innovative AND successful ideas (only Expedia comes to mind, and that was spun off)
There have been a few innovative ideas, but with no luck (like MS Bob).

The initial concept of Vista was to make it a great OS.
But MS cut most of that away, and delivered late.
It was supposed to have many features that were just thrown out the Window.
The most important was a disk format that would put any OSX or Unix to shame.

I don't think announcing Windows 7 is a problem, to be honest.
Afterall, it has all of those engineers that are expected to keep working.
In fact, I think its disgraceful for MS to churn out a new OS in 3 years (1 year since the launch, and another 2 years) providing they deliver on time, which is very unlike MS.
One would think this version is what Vista should have been.

Look at how many OSs Apple launched in between XP and Vista, and I wonder how many there will be by the time Win7 is out.

But so far, the only thing they have going is the multitouch thing, which is available on the iPhone AND the MacBook Air & Pro (on the trackpad). It is ALSO available on the MS Surface which is available TODAY as a frontend on Vista!!!

As for ripping off, I guess they all do it, but MS has definetly taken the lead there.
Dashboard is a rip off of Konfabulator (later to become Yahoo Widgets)
Context Menus are ripped from Windows, just like the CMD+tab.

I think u r focusing on WinFS aren't u? anyway, this was like a dream for Windows users, until M$ dropped it (at least in Vista) in 2006, when they announced its still in development!!!

Some other point to focus on, Windows 7 will be based on Vista which is based on XP, which is based on ME ... etc etc!!
There is nothing changing, the registry is still a bad idea, the dll-hell is still a large fail!!
They really should think of remaking the core things, forget the interface u can make a good interface in months (or u can just rip-off one ), but people want to see large changes, wants to see features!!! something like Macs Core-animation or user permissions
