| Gulf News Reporter Writes About Blocked Twitter Service Chief Business Reporter for the Gulf News, Scott Shuey, writes in his latest column about the online messaging service Twitter. Now, last time I checked Twitter was blocked. I mean the web site was blocked, so perhaps it would be pertinent to mention that in an article about Twitter, don't you think? Well, that fact is not mentioned. The site is blocked by Etisalat at least, last time I checked (I can't check right now so perhaps someone can verify that for me), but the service itself is not. By the way, you can follow me on Twitter if you like: http://twitter.com/mnystedt |

| I am actually pro Etisalat blocking websites. But the last few years, it has become a nuisance. It blocks Twitter, Flickr, FM, as well as some YouTube pages. If they continue to block too strictly, they will force people to break their hold. Thus voiding the point of censorship altogether. |

Also, I am not fully up to speed on what Twitter is but does it work with a mobile phone here as it does in the US? Also if it is just tweets (ie text) then how can the TRA block it? I would of thought it would be less risky than facebook. | |

| Twitter is blocked for me too. I'm againt blocking sites unless a parent requests the service for example; cases of that sort. If I'm paying for a service, I should be able to have my freedom.I'm not a big fan of censorship as you can tell. |
