Blackberry iphone killer ???

I have been hearing rumours and whispers from dark corners of the web for a while now, about BlackBerrys iphone killer ?

The rumours say that you get a touch screen keyboard (and the photos confirm) as well as 3G network. Through BES it can already work with GroupWise/Notes/Exchange. It already has the track record... The question is it an iphone killer ?

Dan

I guess we'll see. It's hard to beat iPhone right now, and I don't mean just in hype. The "wow" factor when people see it is just amazing and beyond anything I've ever seen. Blackberry makes nice devices but they don't have Apple's design and interface pedigree, which makes me think they'll focus on other things, or at least do it in a different way. But competition is good... can't wait to see the next iteration of iPhone.

My guess is that Blackberry, if it comes with a competing product, would walk away with the corporate market..I am not sure if it can make a dent in the consumer segment where design, form and 'wow' factor matter a lot.

Let's see what Apple's competitors come up with to dent iPhone.

Realistically though, the iPhone isnt just going to take a beating laying down. I see a 2nd generation iPhone within 12 months. or is that too optimistic of me?

I think sooner, or at least a 1.5 gen. We know the development cycle on mobile phones is crazy, there are new ones every week it seems. Apple's got into that game and got to keep up now. Sure they are way ahead with iPhone but not 5 years ahead like some people have said.

Very true, however in some ways iPhone is actually behind. it isnt a 3G phone, only has a 2 mp camera (a huge selling point in this region it seems) and is huge in size.

The new Sony Ericsson K850 was JUST released today by Axiom. at AED 2299 it is (to me, and most) a better phone than the iPhone, sporting all the bells and whistles, internet, wifi (I know the N95 has this, Im pretty sure the new K850 does as well) a solid OS (unlike Nokia's n series) and a 5 mp camera.

In that league, you have the K850 and the Nokia N95. sadly, I dont think the iPhone can stand it's ground in this region against such phones.
