Read / Write Arabic on Ms office 2011

    Dear all,

Just wondering that anybody has tested of the Office 2011 bata version to read and write in Arabic? many said that office 2011 still missing Arabic format. However, I installed/tested and I can opened an Arabic document was sent it to email able to displayed, printed and edit with Arabic in office 201 , but I cannot created a new document to write in Arabic correctly.

So, I work around to write an Arabic document. From your existing Arabic document to deleted the text and save the first line with Arabic text. After that saved as a template file, next time to open with this template file, just type new text under the first line to continue. Before when you saved as new document file name, just delete the first line.

I hope this help and anyone with advice why this works???

    Ricky

I haven't tried the beta, but I'm under the impression that Arabic is not supported.
I have heard of some steps that take it closer to Arabic, but not yet there.
This is a minor inconvenience if we finally get to use the app of our choice.

We'll know more about it when we get our hands on it.

Their tweets indicate that they won't here, here, here, and on their blog here:

"While we are adding new language support there will not be full right-to-left support for languages such as Arabic and Hebrew. We understand that some of our customers need support for RTL languages, and we’ll continue to prioritize our language support based on market opportunity and technical complexity. At this time, we don’t have any updates on languages or features beyond Office 2011."

And the Office 2011 Help has no info on this whatsoever (e.g. search for "arabic" yields nothing, "right-to-left" nothing...)

What MS has said, as Uweis quoted, is that "there will not be full right-to-left support for languages such as Arabic and Hebrew."

I understand. My point is that, suppose you purchase Office 2011, and you want to write in Arabic, then you'll be stumped. There may be "partial support" but one has to go find it(!)

For instance I have yet to figure out where in the interface one can toggle from left-to-right to right-to-left. I know how to do that in Office 2010 for Windows, but in Office 2011? Perhaps you can't. Again there is nothing in the Help whatsoever, whereas on the Windows side the Help will tell you about "Right-to-left language features"...

If there is any support / feature at all, it should be accessible and documented. No?
    Cheers,
    -Michl
