what happened to the training courses?

I noticed training courses are still listed as being in 2008. Is there going to be something coming up soon? Courses on using ilife09 or iwork09 would be great!!

Scheduled training courses have been dormant for a long time, basically because of two reasons:
    1. We had too few people interested in them, we often ran courses for 1-2 people.
    2. Too few EMUGers could help out giving the courses, it was basically only myself.

It would be nice if we could do scheduled courses again but anything less than let's say 5 participants each time is not really going to work. And there need to be more volunteers from the user group to develop the learning material and actually give the courses. I can certainly help out but it won't work for me to be the only one doing it.

I know this probably sounds all negative and I don't mean it to but it is the reality

Maybe its because the message hasnt reached alot of users on the website. You know we can mention the benefits aswell. If you would schedule a time then ill definitely participate. We can also setup a poll to see how many people would be interested and based on that you can make better decisions on whether to give another opportunity or pass on.

I didnt really know what the training courses were all about. Can you summarize what their content were?

I could help in some aspects of general Mac use, some of the iLife apps...

But they would have to be on a Saturday and i'd need at least 2 or 3 weeks notice.

Yeah, I know, I'm so demanding.

I was wondering since i dont personally own a Mac. Is the demonstration going to be projected or does everyone have to bring a Mac. If thats the case then i guess ill have to pass.

Good ideas. I think picking up the idea of training again is worth considering but the two main issues remain and have to be addressed. The thing is we need to reach people way beyond the web site.

We basically ran two courses, Intro to Mac OS X and Intro to iLife. They were three hours each and was basically a very quick run through for someone who is new to Mac or want a refresher.

    Depends on the venue.

Since you have mentioned reaching people beyond the website. I think we can start with Social Networking website. Perhaps Facebook or Twitter? You know simple things like sending invitations that can easily get forwarded from one user to another.
