Help better research

Guys,
i was thinking about a monthly 50dhs towards EMUG. So magnus can use the amount for research and inturn we gain directly from the site.
Since we have 3000 users im sure 50 bucks is not going to damage anyone and besides if we can have all 3000 users contribute its 15grand which is pretty decent.
do let me know what you think guys.

research like for everything.take for example now the iphone 3g.
If EMUG has an iphone 3g magnus can research on it and inturn forawrd it to all of us.
and for many other product if EMUG has 1 of each mac product it would be great for all of us. This is not going to happen over night it will take a long process but at then end we all benifit

Noble idea perhaps but we can't force (or expect) everyone to pay. And believe me, I want the site to pay for itself more than anyone.Using the site has always been free and should remain so. For a time we asked for donations but it didn't really work. I guess people just expect thing for free... I'd much rather see users arranging for companies to advertiise or sponsor the site, not for users to pay.

And remember EMUG is different from the site.

Ideas are always welcome, but we can't make them all happen.

We already use it, it brings in some money, but not a lot, and unless we grow a lot bigger as a site, with a lot more traffic, I don't see that as a option. And really I'd rather take off all Adsense and put some local/regional ads on. What I did when I put Adsense in is that they're mostly hidden from logged in users.

Well then another option would be to contact all apple resellers / dealers, and propose an ad fee, if they want to advertise in the UAE's only apple user group, they need to give a minimum fee. But umm .. i would still not be hammering that idea, it is good as it is. And if need arises we can put our mind to it

But the idea of getting test hardware of every mac product makes sense. Since we reach at least 70 - 80% mac users, i think our reviews may count.
