PM me and I will arrange for you to get some for your school. Any one else that would like to take them to school or work, let us know and we will see what we can do.
They probably still have those because most of the people I know from different school haven't heard of Mac or even touched one..So, it'd be nice to invite all of them to the world of Mac..=D

just a random idea (not to be taken seriously). Why dont you give a write up on shuffle about interested student bodies or student, who are willing to make a difference and spread the mac fever along ? Register on the forums and from there on you guys can figure out how to choose a person for a particular school. organise events and a few ipods etc or discounts work too. Its easier to pass the newsletter that way.
I would assume that even if one school joins, rest will follow. The funny part is i see you guys talking about dell PCs in schools, and i am remembering my school days or prolly even now of what i've heard about my x-school in abu dhabi. It still has pentium celeron pcs and they dont know what a PDF is. Really Its good if schools get into the mac culture.
Till i joined the forums, didnt really realise that SAE and emirates mac were buddies lol. Just last year when i used to work with kv as an intern i saw the new macs they bought and their refurnish efforts. DAMN ! now thats how a college should be ! Cheers to them man, they are the only college in academic city / knowledge village (i know of) that live the mac dream.
There were and there are still others, but certainly SAE have the best setup and potentials.
Your idea regarding student representative is valid, as a matter of fact, check out this one year old thread that discuss the same topic.
lol no member hence no permission to acces the page
Did it work out ? or just fade in time ?
It didn't work out yet from EMUG's point of view. Apple IMC is supposedly working on some kind of Apple Campus program but I've not heard if they've actually done anything about it. Not sure what the hold up is, but there's no reason why we can't go ahead and do one of our own.
Any campus rep would have to be member of EMUG, but we can make that complimentary. We offer a student membership fee already. They can get a special badge next to their name on the site. In return we'd ask a few things, including (these are just my ideas):
- Responsibility to distribute Shuffle to the students (we make sure we deliver Shuffles to them every month).
- Responsibility to be the main contact person for EMUG on their campus, we can make a page on the site here which gives their contact information.
- If some issue comes up on their campus we expect them to be able to attend to it as soon as possible.
- They'd be in charge of organizing events and meetings on campus, we can print in Shuffle any information about activities on campus. That could be a dedicated page once the program gets going.
- Distribute any information to students on campus from EMUG, like flyers, etc.
If we can get some help with identifying student bodies at various campuses, preferably with a name and details of a contact person, we can make sure that we send them Shuffle to see if they're interested
Thats a great idea..My main objective is to spread the Mac fever..=D
ok guys here is my thoughts on the same:
1. Have you guys distributed it at the Dubai Academic City, I have seen some Mac toting folks out there.
2. If you guys want to distribute it in the Dubai Academic City, I know a lot of people who can arrange for it.
3. If you are looking for a student volunteer for mac in the Dubai Academic City, I can arrange that too.
So, you guys just let me know if this is ok with you all and I can arrange for it.
lol, you are a year late, i just passed out of college from academic city this june :P ..
Newayz, i think its a good idea EM. But "getting" students interested is the tough part and the most important one.
I am sending you a PM with a few details for student services at Academic city and KV, just see how it works out. Speak to them, and if needed i'll join in with youSince i've worked at KV student services i would say they will be pretty much helpful if it sounds and looks interesting. Then getting student bodies interested, events etc is their part and making the actual work happen is emiratesmac's.
Leme know if you need any other details.
gajanan wch univ whr u in? I got current students who r gd friends of mne and mac users
P.S: I did my mba from S P Jain in KV before they moved to Acad City
