Nice thoughts, but i think the hand-in-front-of-screen wont be that much a big problem, considering the new tablet will use the same handwrite recognition of the iPhone 2, so u will work with stylus or one finger most of the time.
Im sure if Apple released a tablet it would be the nicest thing ever, maybe more than iPhone, simply cuz it will be a lightweight-multitouch-macbook and who knows maybe it will come with GPS
