I don't think Pystar is based on open source.
It seems they are using something similar to OSx86 project.
Because the word is that they are using an original Leopard installation CD that is legally purchased.

For those of you who don't know.
Intel Macs are essentially PCs, with 2 exceptions, OSX and EFI.
EFI replaces the BIOS used in PCs.

Bootcamp makes Windows think it sees a BIOS.
OSx86 makes OSX think it sees an EFI.

But even if Pystar doesn't use open source, it may make enough legal progress to open the door for some one that will.
