Sure, I've installed and run sw with X11. You just download it from Apple, install it and that's it. Then you can run OpenOffice.org and other X11 sw. But if OO is all you're looking for, try NeoOffice instead. It's build on OO but it has a More Mac-like interface and it doesn't require X11.
